Chicken of the Sea Donates $10,000 to Help Battle San Diego County Wildfires
Seafood brand will designate an additional 100th Anniversary Gratitude Award to help fight wildfires in its San Diego hometown
SAN DIEGO, Calif., (May 16, 2014) – To help in the relief efforts associated with the wildfires throughout San Diego County, Chicken of the Sea, headquartered in San Diego’s Sorrento Valley, is donating $10,000 to the San Diego Fire Rescue Foundation (SDFRF) as part of its nationwide Great American Gratitude Tour marking its Centennial anniversary in 2014.
The company, which already donated two, $10,000 Gratitude awards to San Diego-based nonprofits during the March 2014 kickoff of the Tour, today designated a third award to SDFRF specifically because of the fires.
As part of its 100 Years of Good initiative, Chicken of the Sea is awarding 100 community-minded individuals and nonprofits $10,000 each in 2014 to empower them to continue their charitable ways.
To kick off its nationwide Tour, the company presented awards to the San Diego Boys and Girls Club and the San Diego and Imperial Counties Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
The SDFRF was founded in 2006 by former firefighters and community leaders to provide San Diego first responders with the necessary funding to purchase the equipment, technology and training required to keep the property and citizens of San Diego and its surrounding region safe from fire, natural disasters and unforeseen injuries and illness.
