Chicken of the Sea Selects the Best of Seafood Steak Recipes Submitted by Mermaid Club Members
SAN DIEGO – Aug. 10, 2006 – Seafood lovers needing to plan quick and healthful meals can turn to an online recipe book – created by
consumers – that features Chicken of the Sea's® new restaurant-quality ahi tuna and salmon steaks.
Recipes for the "Savory Steak Creations" online book were submitted by select members of Chicken of the Sea's Mermaid Club, an
e-communications club that directly communicates with Chicken of the Sea consumers by providing them with health tips, first-to-know product information, recipes and
nutrition facts.
Savory Steak Creations features recipes and serving suggestions for the new steaks, which are available in several varieties,
including Ahi Tuna Steak in a Grilled Herb Marinade, Ahi Tuna Steak in a Teriyaki Sauce, Salmon Steak in a Honey Barbeque Glaze, Salmon Steak in a Mandarin Orange Glaze,
Salmon Steak in a Roasted Garlic Marinade.
The first 2,500 Mermaid Club members who view the Savory Steak Creations book at www.chickenofthesea.com and e-mail it to
five friends will be eligible to receive a coupon for a free Chicken of the Sea ahi tuna or salmon steak.
"Chicken of the Sea is changing the way people eat seafood, as these seafood steaks can be served as center of the plate
main dishes accompanied by sides such as vegetables or rice," said John Sawyer, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Chicken of the Sea. "Our Mermaid Club
members showed us innovative ways to prepare the steaks, such as Orange Delight Salmon Salad, submitted by Sharon M. of Houston, TX and Quick and Easy Honey BBQ Salmon
Quesadillas, submitted by Gail G. of Cumberland, R.I. Whether preparing an individual or family size serving, these recipes are sure to satisfy."
Sawyer said these wild-caught ahi tuna and salmon steaks are also appealing because they are healthy and easy to prepare. The steaks are low in fat and contain heart-healthy omega-3.
Recipes for the book were submitted to Chicken of the Sea from members of the Mermaid Club's editorial board, which was given samples of the steaks before retail distribution and asked to provide their recipes or serving suggestions.
Chicken of the Sea's Mermaid Club members receive monthly Mermaid mailings that provide Mermaid-tested and approved recipes, new and different culinary uses for Chicken of the Sea seafood, health tips, stories submitted by members describing their favorite ways to enjoy Chicken of the Sea seafood, and much more.
