OVERVIEW OF ROLE

The Supply Chain Manager coordinates, organizes, and oversees all activities associated with the Purchasing, Inbound, Warehouse and Outbound activity.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Hires and trains departmental supervisors. 
  • Ensures departmental training and for staff is effective.
  • Oversees the daily workflow and schedules of the department.
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.  
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.  

Duties/Responsibilities related to Purchasing & Inbound:

  • Collaborates with other departments and stakeholders to identify and maintain resources needed to establish and provide an effective Purchasing & Inbound team.
  • Maintain, develop & refine, performance metrics for Purchasing & Inbound activity.  Metrics include, PO development, PO accuracy, PO confirmation, document completeness, ETD/ETA dates, and management of demurrage & detention.
  • Analyze current Purchasing & Inbound process; suggest improvements to increase efficiency.  Develop and maintains detailed desk SOP’s to maintain proper materials flow.
  • Establish and lead Continuous Improvement effort with Purchasing and Inbound departments.
  • Identifies optimal shipment and transportation routes with attention to consolidation of warehousing and distribution.
  • Ensures timely payment to all vendors.
  • Monitors the performance of suppliers, assessing their ability to meet quality and delivery requirements; identifies and qualifies new suppliers in collaboration with other departments.  
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. 

Duties/Responsibilities related Warehouse & Outbound:

  • Collaborates with other departments and stakeholders to identify and maintain resources needed to establish and provide an effective Storage & Outbound team.
  • Establish performance metrics for warehouse, carrier, and OTIF by customer.
  • Maintains timely responses to all Storage and Outbound activity.
  • Analyze current Storage & Outbound process; suggests improvements to increase efficiency.  Develops and maintains detailed desk SOP’s to maintain proper materials flow.
  • Establish and lead Continuous Improvement effort with Storage and Outbound departments.
  • Collaborates with Purchasing to identify optimal shipment and transportation routes with attention to consolidation of warehousing and distribution.
  • Negotiates prices for Storage and shipping companies.  Ensures timely payment to all vendors.
  • Monitors the performance of service providers, assessing their ability to meet quality and delivery requirements; identifies and qualifies new service providers in collaboration with other departments.  
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, communicate, usually through talking, hearing, writing and typing. Employee should be able to operate standard office equipment, i.e., telephones, computers, facsimile and copier. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk, and move or lift to 35 lbs. The employee regularly works in a well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with a moderate degree of noise.

The employee is required to comply with all company policies, rules and directives, including safe work practices.
