Throughout April, we encouraged our fans to submit their favorite tuna recipe for a chance to win prizes daily—plus the top prize of a trip for two to Fiji. We received over 600 entries and 8,600 public votes on the recipes submitted.
On May 2, World Tuna Day, Amy Meiers from Santa Rosa, CA was awarded the grand prize trip for two to Fiji! Out of the eight finalists, her California-Style Tuna Melt won the top prize. The recipe includes Chicken of the Sea tuna, a Greek yogurt/mayonnaise sauce and dill seasoning on sourdough bread and topped with California avocados and melted cheddar cheese.
The top 25 “Best of the Sea” recipes, as determined by a panel of seafood and recipe judges, were then voted on by the public to create eight finalist recipes to be featured in Chicken of the Sea’s Official Mermaid World Tuna Day Menu.
